a spontaneous start
Vanina emerged in Beirut, in 2007, with 'coined', a jewelry collection that proposed to transform old devalued Lebanese Lira coins into unique pieces of jewelry. This up-cycled collection paved the way for the future development of the brand; forging its DNA as a playful and glamorous label, that embraced sustainability with spontaneity and creativity.

fashion as art
Since 'coined', Vanina continued to approach fashion as a form of art, that aims to send a positive message to society. 'Cease-fire' is a Vanina collection launched in partnership with NGO 'The Permanent Peace Movement', aiming to finance their project 'Against the Misuse of Small Arms'.
Made using 'disarmed' matches (matches that have been deprived of their ignition power), the line formulated a colorful and sparkling message of peace, in times of intense violence.
"You can try, and try, and again.. these matches won't light any fire".

fashion up-cycles
Vanina's design method is characterized by an experimental approach to materials. Its various collections marry digital technologies with traditional handcraft in order to explore new ecological forms of luxury through up-cycling and zero-waste methods. 'Unlocked' is a collection that proposed to transform useless keys into unique jewels: in an increasingly gated society, the line was formulated as an invitation to keep doors open.

nature's way
'Still Life' is a Vanina collection realized in collaboration with Swarovski Elements. This eco-luxury concept proposed to marry precious Swarovski crystals with non-biodegradable plastic bags. Using a parametric design software that allowed to adapt to the various sizes of plastic bags, the line aims for a zero-waste transformation of the material.

digital crafts
Inspired by the shapes of tree leaves, this jewelry line explored a special 3D-printing technique to transform paper into jewelry. The new wood-like texture is then delicately painted by hand and mixed with Swarovski crystals. A collaboration with award-winning sustainable 3d-printing company MCOR.

zero-waste manufacturing
Since 2015, Vanina has been collecting all the textile and leather left-overs of its pattern-making process to transform them into new products: the ‘patches’. Using different techniques of assembly, from embroidery, to sewing, to weaving, our ‘patches’ line proposes to re-create unique products from our multi-colored palette of leftovers.

social production
Vanina's ‘conserved’ eco-luxury project, realized in collaboration with Lebanese NGOs Arcenciel and SDAID, proposed a luxurious afterlife to tin-cans, through a meticulous handcrafting technique realized in collaboration with rural refugee camps of Lebanon.

weaving dreams
Weaving has a soothing and connecting power. Over the years, we've collaborated with several NGOs and cooperatives for woven products/projects. A capsule t-shirt collection with Inaash featuring the traditional Palestinian cross-stitch technique, a series of pouches handcrafted by the women of Ersal featuring their carpet weaving technique, and more recently, with our Camelia Project, in collaboration with NGO 'La Voix de La Femme': women empowerment through the apprenticeship and practice of a craft.
