'ETHICS MEET AESTHETICS'

by vanina studio |

Thank you Sophie Gerendasi for this beautiful article in Savoir Flair!

"In a world of fast fashion and instant gratification, Beirut-based accessories label Vanina continues to draw audiences the world over with its pretty pieces, bohemian feel, and socially conscious business model.

For Spring/Summer 2017, designers Joanne Hayek and Tatiana Fayad focused on “conserved” jewelry – the belts and bags are made of upcycled tin cans, ticking the environmentally friendly box. All of the products were handmade by artisans in Lebanon who were handpicked and entrusted by the two founders, granting both support and work opportunities to the local community. And there’s more – the pieces were assembled by hand in Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon with the help of locally based NGO Sawa. In our books, all these factors add up to social responsibility at its finest – yet another reason to adore and advocate the brand.

“This season’s collection is a play between elegance and free-spirited ease, fluid shapes and elements of surprise, opulent embellishments and soft lines. It’s alive, soulful, and animated,” says Fayad, in conversation with Savoir Flair. Browse through the SS17 lookbook above for an exclusive first look, and then view the new collection up close and personal at Vanina’s stand at the upcoming Fashion Forward Dubai. You can also shop the gorgeous pieces online."
